Technology
The technology behind night trains that actually work.
Luna Rail develops two classes of private day & night cabins, designed initially to retrofit existing European railcars. Both allow converting between seat and bed mode for 24-hour operation.
Retrofit railcars enable the future of sustainable travel.
Start with what exists.
Scale with what's next.
Our pods are engineered to fit inside the standard European railcar envelope, the same railcars already running on tracks across the continent. We avoid the development of completely new vehicles, reducing time and cost for the first implementation.
In the long term, a purpose-built vehicle using our patent-pending full-envelope approach with cabins arranged on all sides of a central corridor will add another 25% capacity on top of the retrofit design.

HotelPod.
The Hotel Pod is a fully enclosed private cabin. Each railcar holds 35 passengers. The highest single-cabin density of any single-deck train design.

Day mode.
A spacious sofa with a fold-out table creates a personal living room or mobile office. Passengers sit upright with a window view and enough room to work, read, or simply enjoy the journey.
Night mode.
The sofa converts into a full-length, full-width bed. The mechanism is designed for single-hand operation. No staff assistance required.
Variants.
In addition to the standard single cabin, double and triple variants are available.
SeatPod.
The Seat Pod is a high-capacity private seat that converts into a fully flat bed. Each railcar holds 65 passengers, 85% of them in solo cabins.

Dimensions and layout.
Each pod provides a generous private seat with direct aisle access. A privacy partition separates each traveller from the aisle and from neighbours, creating a genuine sense of personal space even at this density.
Day mode.
A wide reclining seat with personal lighting, a fold-out tray, USB/power outlets, and storage. Testers rated it more attractive than 2nd class on a high-speed train, and 32% preferred it over 1st class.
Night mode.
The seat reclines into a full lie-flat position. The sleeping surface is comparable in width and length to a standard berth. 88% of testers rated the sleeping position satisfactory or better.
Capacity advantage.
At 65 passengers per railcar, the Seat Pod delivers 50% more capacity than the closest competing private-cabin design while offering superior comfort in both modes.
